About Us

Easterseals Iowa’s Outpatient Therapy program provides support primarily to people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities. We are committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health services to individuals and groups in our community.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and empathetic intern to support our clinical team in delivering group therapy services. This internship is ideal for students in psychology, counseling, social work, or related fields who are looking to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting.

Hours for the internship are determined by the school the individual attends. Easterseals has both emotion regulation and healthy relationship groups happening regularly with periodic other groups.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend and provide support during group therapy sessions.
• Observe and assist in client assessments alongside licensed therapists.
• Draft assessment documentation with guidance and feedback from supervising therapists.
• Complete weekly clinical documentation and progress notes with guidance and feedback from supervising therapists.
• Participate in team meetings and case discussions as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a relevant academic program with a required internship or practicum. Must be enrolled in this course with the school.
• Strong interest in group therapy and clinical mental health work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.
• Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
