Manage product and supplies in the warehouse and freezer. Supervise and lead the logistics team in the day-to-day operations to include safety, production, costs, quality and team building. Plan and conduct weekly meetings to communicate results, goals and achieve specified goals and objectives. Drive the communication of production goals and objectives as well as results in order to effectively motivate the team to maintain a high standard of product quality while maximizing plant efficiencies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the movement of all materials in and out of the cold/dry storage
  • Manage the shipping and receiving operations, including distribution resource planning
  • Ensure the proper FIFO rotation of all raw and packaging materials is followed; ensure proper usage of materials by code dates
  • Assure that all transactions are performed accurately by warehouse personnel and information is correctly recorded in ERP system
  • Confirm that the production department has all materials needed and that the finished product is ready for shipping requirements
  • Plans, organize, direct and control the inventory and non-inventory items
  • Utilize current ERP system to ensure raw and pack materials are ordered and maintained to ensure supply.
  • Tracks cost savings projects under his/her control to meet objectives
  • Develop future cost savings projects to meet objectives
  • Ensure accuracy of reports. Submit production reports timely
  • Maintain a competent, trained work force at determined head count
  • Helps develop and meet plant safety goals. Participates in safety/environmental self-audits & visual checks, and champions all safety activities
  • Address team member’s concerns/requests in a timely and caring manner
  • Conducts/assists with employee relations investigations
  • Checks and verifies timekeeping for assigned team members daily
  • Complete all monthly/weekly training
  • Train all team members in company and regulatory policy i.e. OSHA, EPA, USDA/FSIS, EEOC
  • Must be flexible working all shifts
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive experience across multiple industries including food & beverage
  • Self-starter with strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
  • Extensive experience with supplier management processes
  • Knowledge of ERP systems including Microsoft Dynamics Axapta and Sislog
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook)
  • 2 to 4 years of meat industry experience preferred
  • Bilingual English and Spanish a plus
  • This position has supervisory responsibility for logistics employees
  • Formal sensory analysis training and knowledge of SPC, HACCP concepts, USDA/FDA regulations would be beneficial

LANGUAGE/MATH/REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Must have strong and effective verbal and written communication. Must have ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Must have ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Ability to use personal computer, food preparation equipment, lab equipment and office communication equipment
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software for department reporting and record keeping

Valid driver’s license required

Physical Demands

  • Plant audits and inspections may require lifting of products up to 50 pounds. Inspection often requires work in a production environment including work on a moving line, lifting cartons, and visual inspection. Corrected vision required for sensory analysis to identify color, clarity. Satisfactory taste and smell required to analyze and confirm product specification compliance for organoleptic factors. Warehouse and plant audits also require close and distance vision to judge GMP’s; peripheral vision and depth perception mandatory for safety
