SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER
The Allegheny Valley School District seeks a full-time School Social Worker to provide comprehensive school social work services to our PreK-12 students, parents, and school staff. This person is an advocate for the welfare of our children in addition to providing essential trauma informed support for our most vulnerable students. The School Social Worker will provide students direct social and emotional services as well as assisting families in accessing appropriate community resources. In addition, the School Social Worker will assist students in developing skills that promote healthy academic, behavioral, and social success by collaborating with school staff. The Allegheny Valley School District expects the Social Worker to implement and monitor interventions within the classroom setting. Above all the School Social Worker must possess a knack for working in complex situations, visiting homes or service facilities, and strengthen the connections between home and school. A Master’s Degree in Social Work is required. PA licensure with Home and School Visitor certification and 3 years’ experience in an educational environment is preferred. Successful candidate must also have effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with students, parents, and school staff.
