Patient Safety Attendant – HCA Houston Healthcare Apply for the Patient Safety Attendant role at HCA Houston Healthcare . Job Summary The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) participates in high‑quality, patient‑centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high‑risk patients. In collaboration with the patient care team, the PSA ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles, minimizing falls and accidental or intentional self‑harm. The PSA may also assist with basic activities of daily living. Responsibilities Maintain direct line of sight with a patient at all times, including while family or visitors are in the room. Accompany patients and ensure safety during transportation, testing, and procedures occurring away from the patient’s normal environment. Establish a safe, risk‑free patient environment using fall prevention protocols, infection control measures and self‑harm prevention; perform room assessments regularly and after visits. Create clear, accurate documentation of patient status and activity during the shift. Assist nursing staff with tasks such as transporting patients, delivering equipment and supplies, transporting specimens, delivering patient trays, answering phones, and assisting visitors. Participate as an active member of the health‑care team, promoting a positive environment for patients, families and colleagues. Participate in hospital or departmental performance‑improvement activities and seek opportunities to improve processes. Restock non‑medicinal patient‑room supplies as needed. Qualifications Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.
