Overview

We have an exciting opportunity at Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC (PlayStation). Our software production organization seeks a software engineer for our Platform Audio team. This team is a trailblazer in audio technology. Efforts here will contribute to the development of system libraries used for both our current and next generation PlayStation products. You will drive the design and implementation of technology used for 3D audio, hardware DSP, and virtual reality. The software you would drive development for is the foundation of an SDK for industry leading game and content developers and will change the way audio is used worldwide. What you will be doing

  • Own the implementation and productization of the Audio system features for PlayStation SDK
  • Lead, mentor, and empower a growing team of software engineers to deliver against strategic business outcomes
  • Establish a strong and inclusive engineering culture within our office
  • Assist in the delivery of multiple projects across multiple platforms
  • Help teams estimate, plan, and deliver value to the platform via collaborations with global stakeholders and project/program management
  • Collaborate across engineering and product teams spread over multiple time zones
  • Fulfill the team's vision, strategy, and roadmap
  • Act as a change agent, initiating appropriate changes to support continuous business improvement

What we are looking for

  • At least 6 years of experience in the software development industry
  • 2 years of leadership expertise in delivering software projects
  • Experience with shipping audio technologies
  • Able to work proactively and independently with large, distributed teams
  • Able to manage, mentor, and empower teams, including other people managers
  • Proven leadership skills and a passion for building, maintaining, and deploying both internal business applications and highly available services
  • Strong communication, cross-group collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Capacity to flex communication style to work with business and non-technical users in addition to engineers
  • Ability to balance priorities across multiple projects
  • Knack to advise and influence technical discussions and decisions
  • Experience with agile development practices emphasizing continuous improvement
  • Experienced in software design and debugging workflow

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each roles base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. The base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role is eligible for SIEs benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, matching 401(k), paid time off, wellness program and employee discounts for Sony products. This role may be eligible for a bonus package. The estimated base pay range for this role is $201,400 $302,000 USD.
