Overview:
Jefferson Wells has an immediate need for an Entry-Level Accountant for a position with a client of ours in Farmington Hills, Michigan. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals looking to build a strong foundation in accounting. You will play a key role in supporting the accounts payable processes, vendor reconciliations, and journal entry preparation.
This will be a long-term (12-months plus) contract role with the possibility of it becoming a full-time permanent position with the client. It will be on-site at their offices in Farmington Hills most days, so candidates must live within commuting distance.
Growth Opportunities: This position offers a clear path for advancement. Within the first year, high-performing candidates will have the opportunity to:
• Take on more complex accounting tasks such as accruals and financial analysis.
• Participate in cross-functional projects and process improvement initiatives.
• Be considered for promotion to Staff Accountant or Accounts Payable Specialist, depending on performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities: • Process Accounts Payable Invoices: Review, verify, and enter vendor invoices into the accounting system in a timely and accurate manner.
• Reconcile Vendor Statements: Investigate discrepancies, follow up with vendors, and ensure account balances are accurate.
• Prepare Journal Entries: Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities by preparing and posting journal entries.
• Maintain Financial Records: Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial transactions.
• Support Audits: Provide documentation and assistance during internal and external audits.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with procurement, operations, and finance to resolve invoice and payment issues.
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software is a plus.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Our consultants are hired as W-2 employees and are paid on an hourly basis though our regular weekly payroll. Health Benefits are also available (see below.)
