Job Description

The Fandom Network is Sony Pictures Televisions digital studio & network focused on building fan communities for our film & TV IP and the next generation of IP and creators that drive fandom and engagement across social platforms to meet audiences where they are today. The team operates at the intersection of digital innovation and studio storytelling, developing digital-first formats & IP with emerging digital talent that have the potential to evolve into multiplatform franchises. The north star of the Fandom Network and this role is to extend, expand, and deepen fandom around our priority IP, while also incubating and building new digital brands and formats that can evolve into scalable, longterm franchises for the studio.

Role Summary

The Director, Digital Creative & Content Strategy will lead the creative strategy and development of new IP, creators, and formats within the Fandom Network. This is a brandnew function within the Fandom Network that combines the responsibilities and experience of a studio development lead and a digital producer. Its a hybrid, emerging role that sits at the intersection of Hollywood and the digital creator economy, requiring a buyer and seller mindset through a digital creator and fan lens.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, selfstarting creative leader with a deep understanding of digital storytelling, creator ecosystems, and platform trends. This leader must be obsessed with fandom understanding what creates it, what fuels it, and how to recognize its potential in emerging creators, communities, and storytelling formats. They will combine strong creative instincts with strategic and operational rigor to build and execute development plans that align with Sony Pictures Televisions broader objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Development & Strategy

  • Lead the creative development slate and incubation of digitalfirst IP and creatorled formats across platforms.
  • Shape creative strategies & initiatives to test, incubate, and scale emerging formats, talent and franchises.

Talent & IP Incubation

  • Identify and evaluate top digital creators, emerging IP, and innovative content formats for potential digital development or adaptation.
  • Translate creative concepts or IP into platformnative formats and iterate based on learnings.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of creator communities, fan culture, and platform innovation to inform development opportunities & priorities.
  • Collaborate with creators to understand goals, define brand identities, storytelling approaches, and audience growth strategies that lean into platformnative formats and best practices within defined budgets.
  • Provide notes on creative concepts, outlines and edits that align the project to digital storytelling and platform best practices.

Pitching & Partnership

  • Develop and deliver strategic and creative pitch materials for internal stakeholders, creators, and external partners.
  • Partner with internal development teams, Business Affairs, and other studio departments to structure talent & production deals, packages and business models in alignment with broader studio objectives.
  • Shepherd projects from concept to execution, then transitioning projects to creators / production units as well as the Channel Management team for channel, programming, and audience strategy.
  • Ensure that creative and strategic plans are documented, actionable, and aligned with the studios overall goals.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in creative development at a studio, digital media, content strategy, or related areas within entertainment or platformbased companies.
  • Proven track record of developing and launching creatorled or digitalfirst content.
  • Established, strong relationships with creators and deeply connected to the creator ecosystem and digital culture.
  • Strong understanding of digital platforms, audience trends, and fandomdriven ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across creative, business, and strategic functions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex studio environment.
  • Highly motivated selfstarter with strong creative judgment, strategic acumen, and the ability to translate digital trends into business opportunities.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, able to work independently and drive initiatives from concept through execution.
  • Passionate about storytelling, innovation, and the evolving relationship between studios, creators, fans, and IP.
