Job Summary This is a contracted door-to-door position at the Foundation for Recovery. Contractors will be responsible for knocking on doors and speaking to residents in assigned areas of Clark County about preventable overdoses while distributing public and behavioral health information and resources. The ideal candidates should have previous experience with canvassing or door-to-door sales, however, the Foundation will provide additional training to contractors with limited experience. Candidates should be comfortable engaging members of the public in conversations, have exceptional customer service skills, ability to handle rejection, and be comfortable with logging interactions and tracking engagements through a mobile application. All contractors will report directly to the Foundation’s Canvassing Director. This is a contracted position; selected candidates are not W2 employees of the Foundation. Benefits Free uniforms Training & development About the Program Led by Foundation for Recovery this initiative aims to raise awareness of overdoses among Clark County residents by recruiting passionate individuals from our community to canvass 100,000 doors in highly impacted neighborhoods. The majority of preventable overdose deaths in Clark County are occurring in a home setting. 65% of decedents in 2022 had at least one potential opportunity for linkage to care prior to death and in the case of 45% of deaths, there was a bystander present. Beyond the prevention of overdose deaths, having conversations with our neighbors can help to break down misconceptions, stigma, and increase awareness of public and behavioral health resources. We will give you everything you need to speak to other Clark County residents about overdoses. Foundation for Recovery is a 501c3 charitable organization that has been serving our community for 20 years through recovery sustainment support, educational program, and advocacy and awareness initiatives. Job Qualifications Passion for Helping the Community Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with diverse groups of people, listen actively, and convey messages clearly. Resilience: Comfortable with door-to-door work, including handling rejections and maintaining a positive attitude. Leaving messages at door cameras (Ring, etc.) Flexibility: Ability to work various hours, including evenings and weekends, as door-to-door canvassing requires non-traditional work times. Local Knowledge: Preferably familiar with the local area or willing to learn quickly to navigate effectively around the Las Vegas valley. Tech Savvy: Comfortable using mobile apps or devices for data entry and navigation. Ability to work independently and stay on task Must own a smartphone (iOS or Android) and have mobile data Reliable transportation required Prior canvassing, community outreach, or field work experience is a plus Essential Functions Identifies and travels to assigned locations Reviews training materials and handouts Builds a connection with people Meets quotas for number of doors knocked per shift and engagements with local residents Foster's understanding of and connection to the life-saving medication, Naloxone, and educates residents how it can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose Teach others to recognize an opioid overdose and how to administer naloxone to reverse an overdose. Documents door engagements through mobile canvassing app and end-of-shift reports. Distributes training and materials to the community. Provide information on local resources if asked by a member of the community Work Environment Our employees and contractors work in a supportive and collaborative working environment. This is a contracted position based in Las Vegas and will require frequent travel within the community. Individuals should expect meetings and work to occur "in the field" and in non-traditional office environments. Most of the work will occur in the community, this includes walking in neighborhoods and speaking to individuals at their doorstep. Foundation for Recovery will provide all of the tools necessary to perform the duties of the job. Physical Demands Must be able to perform extensive standing, driving, walking; to lift up to 50lbs. regularly; Must be able to bend, stoop, and climb to reach materials. In addition to sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. This position involves physical activity, including walking and standing for extended periods. Be conscientious of weather conditions. High temperatures or long sun exposure pose a serious health risk. Low visibility or poor driving conditions also increase the risk. Proper precautions should be followed in these conditions, which may include canvassing in the evenings, shorter and more frequent work shifts, and wearing proper attire.
