PRIMARY PURPOSE: To gain the skills and knowledge necessary to analyze workers' compensation, general liability, or disability claims, determining the benefits due while being oriented and trained as a new industry professional.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attend a designated classroom training program for claims professionals.
Participate in on-the-job training, including:
Adjusting lost-time workers' compensation claims with close supervision, and managing medical-only claims.
Handling low to mid-level liability and physical damage claims under close guidance.
Processing short-duration disability claims under supervision.
Documenting claims files and ensuring accurate coding of claim activity.
Communicating claim processing actions with claimants and clients.
Providing support to other claims examiners and supervisors on more complex claims as assigned.
Participating in rotational assignments to assist with office needs.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other duties as required.
Support organizational quality programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Licensing: A Bachelors degree from an accredited institution is preferred; equivalent experience may also be considered.
Experience: No prior experience is necessary with a relevant degree. State licensing, self-insured certificate, WCCA/WCCP designation, or completion of the Sedgwick Claims Progression Program is required without a degree. Previous claims experience is advantageous.
